Variegated Ceanothus
Ceanothus griseus var. horizontalis “Diamond Heights”

Don’t be fooled by the beautiful evergreen foliage of this highly variegated ground-cover: This is a hardy, drought-tolerant variety in USDA Zones 8 through 10. The leaves are lime-green with dark-green splotches across each leaf. Sparse blooms of a light-blue color appear each spring and some may even linger through summer to treat the bees and butterflies, but this plant’s true value is the outstanding foliage in partial sun. The ground-cover actually grows in a mounding fashion and mature heights vary from 6 to 8 inches.
