Senna, Tree; or Texas Flowering Senna
Senna corynbosa

This Texas native produces showy, yellow blooms perpetually through the growing season. This evergreen is actually a shrub that can reach 6' tall and 8' wide in a xeric site. It is drought-tolerant, takes the heat of Texas summers and demands only that it be positioned in a well-drained site. It thrives in USDA zones 8a through 11 where it is a magnet for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Some homeowners report reseeding, but those cautions come from South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, not Texas.
