Redbud, Forest Pansy
Cercis canadensis “Forest Pansy”

If you like hardy plants and dark-purple leaf coloration, this is a plant for you. "Forest Pansy" has the hardiness of our own beloved native Redbud and the growing culture is the same in all respects -- hardy, drought-tolerant, and a magnet for bees, birds and butterflies. The bloom time is similar and the bloom color is the same bright pink. The singular difference is the leaf color which is a dark purple-black, made darker when planted in full sun. This varietal thrives in USDA zones 5 through 9 and can be enhanced by the heat of our Texas sun.
