‘Alma’ Fig

The Alma fig tree is a recent introduction from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. It produces a high quality fig that is extremely productive and ripens in late June. The tree is moderately vigorous, comes into production at an early age and produces extremely heavy crops. The fruit eye is closed by a drop of thick resin that prevents the fruit from spoiling on the tree. Low water needs. Tolerant of sun and heat. Self-fruitful. 150 chill hours. Zones 7-10.
